Wow I am late in entering this topic. And I am to tired to read through all the replies tonight, however I’ll through in what I can type before I hit the sack:
To be honest I bow my head in shame due to this topic, because I am one of the guilty party. Sometimes I can be too upfront and pushy in telling people they are overstocked. And I do intend to try and make a change from that. However people need to understand why I and many others react in the way we do. Firstly there are many less-knowledgeable people in the hobby who are not aware they are overstocked. And if they are aware, it tends to make us more angry and ‘emotional’ as a lot of us care about the fish’s condition. We care very deeply about fish in general, their well-being and the pride and basics of the hobby.
So although I intend to change my ways in being so critical in correcting people, I think it is only fair that people understand why we do it in the first place. Fair enough?

.What I was insisting on was the rudeness in a lot of the posts, and the repetitiveness of them, and the gang mentality that was building up where people begin flaming a person because their tanks may be overstocked now. I don't think there's anything wrong with a little overstocking, some people do. I personally don't like doing it myself, but I understand why people overstock. Not looking to change people's opinions, just getting them to realize that sometimes they take it overboard, and create chaos for the mods in the meantime.
Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to minimum tank size for whatever fish is involved and "how many can I put in there". If I don't agree with someone elses opinion I always think about the day I registered to this site and agreed not to post inflammitory remarks. No one should EVER call anyone an idiot even if they are exactly that! It is especially important for experienced fishkeepers to inform newbies of their mistakes in an adult manner. Let's help em' out, not stomp on 'em with impunity!

I'm a DYS teacher (juvenile delinquents). the second I yell at them or show frustration, they cease to learn anything and shut me out. When I am patient and calm with them, they learn, which is the desired goal to begin with. it is a very obvious but underused tactic with all people, and it applies here as well.
