Background: 2 x endi, about 10 inches -11 inches long
Tank mates: Asian Arowana, Florida Gar, 3 red devils, 3 x Indo tiger. All are between 10-14 inches
Tank: 6ft x 2ft x 2.5ft
Feeding: Once every 2 days. Mostly pellets and market prawn
Treats: Ghost Shrimp and live baby frogs
I have both endi about 1.5 years. I have been feeding the above to the tank all this while, 1 endi prefer pellets 1 endi prefer market prawn. But 1 thing both have in common is both are pretty laid back.... they do not rush for food... they let the tank mates eat first and clear up the rest
So last week, i decided to buy medium frog instead of baby frogs for my arowana. And the arowana actually love it and eat the frog the moment they touch the water, during this time i noticed 1 endi getting excited and swimming around, like it was looking for something
During 1 feeding, the red devil took the frog, bite it and spit it out, the frog sink to the the bottom of the tank and the endi immediately rush towards it and eat it... i was like Wow... must be hungry...
2 evening ago, i fed a larger medium size frog, the arowana found it too big, the red devil found it too big... i just let the frog swim in the water and it hid around my pothos at water level... yesterday evening i could not find this frog. Well... it should be the arowana or red devil that ate it since it was at top level
Yesterday, i fed another frog, again the arowana and red devil pass on the frog. But i noticed, the endi started swimming all over the tank once the frog eat the water, looking for something and he keep on searching at the top level where the pothos is... he could not find what he was looking for.... and started swimming around the tank now mostly at top level, found his beloved live frog, snatch at it in front of the red devil and arowana, and swam back down to enjoy his meal....
Sorry for the long story but after 1.5 years i managed to see the endi get excited at something... it does not seems to be the ambush predator that bichirs are famous for...
