I am new to this forum and would like some input on my new "monster" setup. I have a 120 gallon Oceanic tank with an Oceanic Trickle Filter 150. I made prefilters for the intakes and added a custom filter pad for the top of the trickle tray. My main question is if I really need the pad on the trickle tray. It just seems that I would need more mechanical filtration that the two small prefilters on the intakes, that is why I added the pad.

I have attached my photobucket pics so you can see what I am talking about. I have been growing out some of these guys in my old 55 gallon before upgrading.

Thanks for any input in advance!

I consulted with my bro who used to run this type of system. I have removed the pad from the trickle tray so the water can flow over the entire tray.

How about that, answering my own post. Please, any thoughts or comments on my setup would be greatly appreciated!

Best wat to find out is run the filter on the trickle tray for a few weeks to see how dirty it gets. I personally always run filters over the bio-media.

Nice tank set-up by the way :D.
