How fast do ocell. peacocks grow? mine are about 2" now and i am feeding them guppies now. i am doing a 30 percent water change once a week. how long will it take them to get 6 or 7 "?
robert

should take a few months... stuff them with live blackworms too

month max just 2 small water changes and feed stupid amounts af food

Mine eat frozen krill, blood worms, frozen silver sides, and lots and lots of pellets 2" to 6" with water changes a little over 2 months. Start now getting it off live be cheaper later on and its easier to throw some pellets in more often...

bump the temp to hi 80's. do water changes, and feed them a virety of food.
live food will make them grow much faster, but will be a pain to get them off later on. Try feeding them guppies maybe like once a week, while the other times use krill, pellets, worms, etc..

i will repost this here: this brings up a very interesting topic if you ask me.. i notice people will stuff there cichla 5 times a day.. i feel this is extremely un natural.. yes im sure the fish is happy but healthy? is it? have you ever compaired the body shape of an overfed fish to a normal fed cichla? the overfed fish will not have a normal body shape but will actually look 'fat and sloppy' which alot of people like. do you really think a peacock bass in the wild is filling his/her gut to the max 3 times a day.. they are lucky if they eat a few fish a day. keep in mild, in the wild, they have to prowl through current and constantly hunt for food which equal exercise which equals ... less food and more calorie burn. so is it really healthy to overfeed your cichla? i feed mine a few medium/ small high nutirient meals a couple of times a day, variety, supply them witha bit of current.. and they still grow fast and have great colors

Yea, I'm with you. I feed my Pbass 3 times a week. During the week like Tuesday & Thursday (smelt, shrimp, pellets) than on Saturday Live...

besides, the faster you grow them out the sooner you need to either get rid of them or provide a bigger home. Why not just enjoy them and let time do their thing w/growth.

I agree, the chichla in the wild are buff while the ones in aquaria are fatties.

new chichla i will feed 3 times a day till they put on some weight, than i change it to every other day.

just give them some current and smaller meals a few times a day.. worked for me.. i cant wait till i get me new guys

I disagree...most cichla feed all day long in the wild whenever food presents itself...most cichla in fishing photos are full bodied also..tems are the only cichla that doesnt get a rounded gut due to their length but make up for it in size...also the only cichla found in rapid or current are intermedia....most are from still water areas and backwood flood plains........
