Are you sure they are true Ocellaris?

so many questions, sorry. but any idea what river they come from?

I am no Pbass expert. Is there another type being passed off as the Ocellaris. I have the Juvinile Orinos and Temensis down. I have seen these in person. They have the 3 dark spots and you start to see the bars forming in some of them. No gold spots, no lines down the body.

As for the river they were caught. I thought the Ocellaris was Also know as the Butterfly Peacock bass, which is native to Florida. These guys came from a supplier an Importer in Miami, who has a commercial liscense in Florida to legally sell Florida Pbass. I would venture to say they are farm bred, but not 100% sure.

florida pbass are hybrids of monos/oscell if i'm not mistaken. If its a supplier in miami its most likely florida pbass.

they can be cought in florida, and some places of texas along with some others.

but here some info I got on their location.

Native Range: Tropical America. Although the genus Cichla is widespread in the Amazon and Orinoco basins of South America, the true Cichla ocellaris apparently is restricted to the Guianas (Kullander 1986; Kullander and Nijssen 1989).
