So over the weekend iam fishing for a small pumpkinseed and I catch the crazyest colored bluegill ive ever seen the rays in its fins are pitch black while the rest of the fin is normal clear. Normaly where there bits of color on the face theres black. I named it piballed because near the lateral line theres a bit of normal bluegill color. It dosnt have any signs of hybrid or not being a bluegill its just has a vary odd color pattern, with lots of white and black. Ill try to get some good pics tomorrow after or before i go to work.

It could be his stressed out coloration but I do caught "blue" or "calico" bluegills from time to time. I even caught blue roan pumpkinseed few years ago. However I dont know if its their true coloration or diseases that cause it changed colors. But this is not really uncommon. And nice MKF t-shirt lol.

I dont know it didnt just suddenly change when i caught it 2 days ago it was the same color.

Yeah I wondered how they survived the predation through juvie stage and also adult stage too. Dont know how the "blue" bluegills survived in bowfin infested rivers in my area, you can easily see the blue/pale sunnies even in murky waters.
