Odd Combo of Fish

I have 1 Florida Gar, 1 Redtail Cat, and 1 Jack Dempsey Cichlid. The JD has been pure chaos on my tank decor. Im debating on returning him. I have a 75 gal tank and will upgrade soon. Is this a smart fish combo or should I change something?

Theres not really many fish in the combo but i dont see why it is weird if they all get on.

The jd and gar may be eaten by the rtc as it grows far faster than either of them depending on their sizes.

The dempsey already kind of picks on him. I wish he would just calm down.

Well its going to be a while before that happens. My JD is full grown and my RTC is only about a quarter of the size of him.

RTCs will grow fast. so your JD might not have as long as you think. If I were you I might look at returning the RTC and Gar and getting some other chiclids b/c of your tank size. Unless you want to upgrade to a 500-600gal within a year and a half.

I agree but you wont have as long as a year and a half!

I wouldn't add any other fish until you have the future home for the rtc ready.
