Odd Combo of Fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anything would be fine...as already mentioned, there really aren't any set combos of fish that you can have. Basically, anything the RTC cant fit in his mouth and provided you have enough cover, anything should be fine to house with him.

RTC get pretty big. I think what everyone is trying to say is you should be more worried about making/buying a tank big enough to house him rather than worry about type of fish you can put with him. If you really like your RTC, try to find a tank to keep him so you can enjoy him.

Like people have said earlier, anything he cant fit in his mouth...If you put a lot of small fish of one type, like tetras they wont get eaten...also if you have a lot of cover for the smaller fish and the RTC is well fed, he should leave the other fish alone...

hope this helps!

Do you know how big the cat gets? i dont want to hound you since everyone else is but I just get the feeling you dont understand the full size potential of the redtail....

In case you are wondering, the full size of a RTC is between 3-4 feet...you need a pretty hefty tank to hold one of these guys if you are planning to keep him. They also have been known to live up to 15 years in captivity.

Just thought you should know.

I saw one recently at 2' and it was pretty beefy I would say around 8"+ wide, just the body not including fins
