Oddball Cichla sp Melaniae Xingu

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes - just because they are from the same parents doesn't mean they will look the same.
Look at people, for example - our siblings don't look the same as us, normally.

That is why I stated that the male and female are different shades of color. But, look at bahias. You don't see a color difference in either ones or even monos and orinos that are captive bred.

Non the less, unique indeed.

I agree siblings will look different. The different shade could mean something but do you think that the oddball would have not made it in the wild? I mean nature has its way to take care of the weak. In other words, captive breeding is changing the species with survival of oddballs.

This could be true to. Wes is the ones you got, yes? The ones I got and Hulon got was from Wes and superlaz, could they be from different batches?

I don't know how many Wes brought in and I don't know how many superlaz brought in, so who knows it might of been F1s and F2s that came in at once.

Nice fishes ken, if you don't mind me asking a few questions about your setup and fishes:

How big is your tank?
How many fishes in there?
And what filtration are you using to handle the large bioload all your fishes produce?

Thanks

Hayn the ones Wes brought in as well as the superlaz ones are all from germany's Michael B. They are all f1s. My GUESS would be that they are all from the same batch since they were imported with in very close time frames and are all roughly the same sizes.

Ah...yes, they were. So, I think it could be female and male coloration then, if not, then I have no clue.
