If it is gold or brown and also eats plants voraciously, then it is a cana. Canas are very common around and are invasive species in Asia and Hawaii. They can grow to baseball size, no more than that. They are often confused with Pomacea bridgesii which grow to golfball size only. If you want something larger, try Pomacea insularum. There is an article by Donya Quick about her insularums. They apparently chew on nets and meshes as juveniles and can leave bite marks as adults on your skin unlike the scratches by canas due to their teeth called I believe "radials". Now, that's a monster invertebrate.
