Its a golden Synbranchus sp(golden tulip eel)..south American species,Monopterus albus is also known as a swamp eel but this one comes from Asia.These strange lungfish type eels need to take in atmospheric air otherwise they would drown,they look really strange hanging in the water displaying a vertical posture.
These are not true Eels,its cousin in South America(Synbranchus marmoratus) grows to 5 feet long so your Eel is likely to make 3feet at least.
