oddball tank mate ideas- black ghost knife?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keep in mind the size ratios of your BGK..

A friend of mine picked up a large BGK and put it in her oddball tank with some Spiny Eels.. at night it would try to eat the spiny eels because it thought they were worms. (BGK feed on worms in the wild) .. their electrical senses make it hard for them to differentiate food sometimes.

Might have the same problem with a huge BGK and a small polypterus..

hmmm ok, well maybe i will pass. brown knifes only get to 1' so i think i might look at them but for now i think il focus on making it a bichir tank... though that might be subject to change in the near future as my interests can change quickly lol

BGK are not overly aggressive except with their own kind or with anyone messing with their caves. As long as you have enough hiding spots so that everyone has their own space - you should be fine. I have BGK and he has a great personality. I have heard that Brown Knives are more timid and tend to hide more - but that is just what I heard - perhaps others can tell you more about them.

Size is very important here as miles stated,it could go the other way as well.I have had a four inch poly sen eat a 2 inch tiger.

thanks, lol ill put htem back on the list now :) i would love to get a bgk but my bichirs are my first priority here and i dont want to endanger them ya know? great, now iv just got to get a space cleared to setup my 55 gallon. cross your fingers and hope i get it operational soon.
