Tire track eel actually have many complex and the most common in the hobby are the M. armatus and M. favus which looks very much alike but can be tell apart from it belly coloration.

There are more spiny eel that are under the name of "tire track eel" complex
-Mastacembelus armatus
-Mastacembelus favus
-Mastacembelus undulatus
-Mastacembelus notophthalmus
-Mastacembelus tinwini
-Mastacembelus pantherinus
-Mastacembelus sp cf. armatus (many more of this)

Tire track eels are still being study more as there are more species from this complex that pops out as a different species.

Its a cool looking spiny eel thats about all i can tell you in total theres around 80 species and sub species of spiny eels so its very possible its a sub species of tire track eel its a major headache to try an ID these guys so a cool looking eel is about all i can tell you it is

There patterns vary from fish to fish and are like a finger print no to are exactly alike
