Hi guys, i was just looking around youtube and found a couple of tanks with some strange combinations of fish in them but they looked happy and healthy. So it got me thinking about what people had kept with cichlids before, im not thinking of doing this by the way. I know quite alot of people on here are purists and like to keep there tanks strictly SA or CA and iv got to be honest that is what appeals to myself but i have always wanted to put tetradon mbu in my tank and always have to talk myself out of it when i see one (maybe one day il dedicate a tank to one). So id like to know what oddballs you guys have kept with your cichlids, whether it worked or not or even a dream combination if you had space or could guaratee it would work. Look forward to hearing your responces

As far as I know it's not advisable to put turtles with cichlids as some turtles will eat them... God knows I'd be pissed if a damn turtle touches one of my fish lol

I tried a Wolf fish once and that was a very very bad idea!!! I've had a Silver Aro in my current tank for about 3-4 months before I went in a different direction. The Aro and the cichlids got along fine too. I want to try rays at some point, but not with any of my current stock.

i tried a large 8 inch black ghost knife died 2 days later from my cichlids

I would not mixed them either but it is pretty impressive looking.

I wouldn't mix cichlids and turtles either. I had a bad experience doing that. Plus turtle waste is a pain to keep up w/ compared to fish.
