I recently got a 56 gallon custom Acrylic tank. Yes, 56 gallons. I got it for 100% free. So I have a general idea of what I want

-oddballs (my number 1 priority)
-Natives (My 2nd priority)
- NO CICHLIDS!!!

Anybody have any ideas? I’m open to anything!

Edit: I would love preditory!

Any type of puffer would also be cool. Amazon biotope with tetras, Amazon puffers, cories, and dwarf cichlids would look great.

Banded leporinus. It would definitely appreciate sacrificed height for width.
It would also go well with just about any tankmate that isn’t peaceful or too lethal.

A group of glass fish will do well in there.

I've easily seen 10" ones in large quantities, and by large quantities, at least 10 that were purchased by a public aquarium from LFS and grown to that length. I don't see a 56g for its entire life.

True but they are very inactive, plus the 56 has extra width as opposed to height, giving it extra swimming room.
Mine is in a 60, he spends 95% of the time sitting in one spot, going on a patrol every once in a while. Most I’ve kept or seen tend to have a similar behavior once they pass 6 inches.
