I am curious as to what odd pairs members have witnessed either in their tanks or other tanks. I bring this up after watching breeding behaviour...tag teaming adversaries, tail slapping, cave sharing, sleeping together...between two of my fish. The pair consists of a female convict and a female nicaraguan cichlid. Interspecies, same sex pair. I'll have to post a pic of them side by side in a cave, or taking on my jade eyes together in the next couple of days.

My Green Terror and Jack Dempsey are always chillin in a cave together. Don't know how odd it is though...

I had an oscar that lived with a female betta.Ate feeders bigger than the betta daily,killed all the other fish that were in the tank but never harmed the betta.
once had a female gt in a 20g growout who shacked up with one of my original homegrown con fry, also a female. gt was always dropping eggs. i miss those butches.
My 5"JD and 7" Pike are buddy buddy with the 1" very edible male con in their tank. Its pretty funny watching the con steal food from them and not get eaten.
I have 2 weird pairs in my tank. During the day my Balashark and Peacock Bass hamg out and swim with each other and sumtime chase eachother playfully. At night My Oscar and Gar sleep right next to one another. BUt once the lights are on My oscar gently nudges the gar away from his spot and the gar goes and sit in his for the day.
My 6" male dovii has a pink convict girlfriend. He'll try to kill any other cichlid I put with him but even after being separated for a few months he started displaying for the convict once I put her back in his tank. They're always guarding eggs but I think the large yo-yo loaches are eating them at night.

What an ungodly creature those two could make!!! A 14" Convict with the canines of a Dovii! That seems to be the best way to get an odd pair, is have a male of species X, and a female convict...cause the boys want to spawn no matter what, and a female con...well, cons are the rabbits of the fish world...'nuff said right? I'd love to see footage of those two chilling out together!

I don't have a vid but here's a pic of them together. I think a 14" con with teeth would be the nastiest fish around. A mini albino dovii might be cool too. I'd really like to get a few fry from them just to see what they look like. Maybe one day I'll remove the eggs and try to hatch them.
