Chris man, you rule! That is the sweetest cichlid pic I've ever seen! Seeing that con flare at a bloody Dovii is awesome. I'm laughing my @$$ off as I make it my desktop on the cpu!!!

i have a oscar that is buddies with one of the feeder goldfish that i put in a while ago. there is a jack in there that the o fights with alot but never touches the goldfish. he ate all the other feeders but this one. this was even before i put a dempsey in with the o.

I have had predator and prey befriend one another before as well. A few years ago I had a single male Jack Dempsey who I used to feed neon tetras to when they went on sale. One day I bought 15 and tossed them in the tank (should have quarentined, but whatever, I don't even give feeders now). Anyway, within two days he had the 15 reduced to just one little neon, and he kept that one neon around for nearly six months afterwards.

I had a green terror a while back and I threw about 10 guppies in with it and it ate all but two and actually let them two breed and kept around the babies.

I don't have a vid but here's a pic of them together. I think a 14" con with teeth would be the nastiest fish around. A mini albino dovii might be cool too. I'd really like to get a few fry from them just to see what they look like. Maybe one day I'll remove the eggs and try to hatch them.

hilarious. you sure that's not photoshop? awesome odd pair, sweet pic.

The oddest pair I ever had was a discus and a convict. Well they werent actually a pair but the con was in love with the large discus I kept. He would school with it and follow it side by side all around the tank. At the time I had no place to put the con so I tossed him in the discus tank for the time being and lo and behold the con fell in love. He even protected "her" from the other discus in the tank. It was kind of funny, but eventually the con had to go. :(

Instead of "Oddest Pairs?" I should have called this thread "So who has your Convict Cichlid shacked up with?!?!" ...a nic, a dovii, a discus...the little tramps!

My Indo Dat, and Tiger Oscar are "in love" I know they will never breed, but they alway swim together, and sit on the bottom together....
My gallery has a cool pic of them...

Well this thread would be a lot shorter if it was called "So who WON'T your Convict Cichlid shacked up with?!?!" I think if I held my hand in the tank long enough, I might get some action too! Here are a few more recent pics of my lovely couple. Notice the loach sitting in one of their nests. His belly's probably full of their last batch of eggs.

The first two pic's in this sequence go awesome together...her flaring at him from the 'safety' of her flower pot, and then him with his snout completely inside the pot. If there weren't pictures to follow it, I would have assumed that that was the last of the con.
