Yup... Read through that thread.
VERY interesting. IF you take that thread to heart BOTH Odoe myths are crushed in one thread. a SEVEN year old Odoe that's FIFTEEN inches long.......
Anyways.... What I have found with most Characins is that they are peacefull for the most part, BUT when provoked, can inflict serious damage as most have impressive teeth. Just like the Pike Cichlid in that thread that Cezr watched get what he probobly had coming to it by being a typical Cichlid and starting shiat.
Cichlids mix with Cichlids. Mix them with Characins and you will quickly figure out where all these "myths" come from.... Bad reputations are formed very quickly.... Example- Dorado ripping apart Dovii.
I've also found Characins seem to do much better in groups. Maybe this is why my shoals tend to be so much more mellow then most peoples. I tend to try to group 4 or more together......
You can put them in whatever sized tank you want. Would I house my shoal in a 125? NO friggin way. 180? Maybe if I was still growing them out... I did house them in a 180 at first. Didn't take long till I moved them to the pond. So... My answer.... For a shoal -300 gallons. Single specimen? WHY? I feel they are better kept in groups, therefore see first answer.
Better seek other's opinions. People don't seem to much care for mine. Maybe it's cause it's cheaper to find a "smaller" opinion.....
