Odoe Pike Not Eating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine was one of the easier fish to break off live as well. He's larger now, but when he was under 12" he used to go on strange hunger strikes every month. I swear he wouldn't eat for at least a week.

I would caution against adding 1-2 more Odoes. I used to have 2, but this one essentially bullied the other to death. I think I read on here that if they are going to be kept in a group, they have to be larger groups of 5+ fish.

I thought I would update you all. MEAL WORMS! They can't get enough of them. Technically still live food but I can live with it and hopefully get them on pellets. I have 3 pikes now in a 110g. They are ranging from 9-11" eye-balled; no aggression issues. I am trying to fatten them up so that they will be ready to go in one of my big tanks. A 375g or a 480g. I am still deciding on which tank is the best fit for them.

I have no idea, this is my first time keeping pikes

Literature reports from field samples in Africa revealed max age of 3 years according to otolithe studies.

Please note that samples may not be representative of full populations simply by catching techniques. However, I have not come across a single report of a 4-years or older Odoe in the wild, and my literature review covered close to 1000 pike across several bodies of water and regions in Africa, and research published by about a dozen different authors

Maybe in an MFK tank???
