Odor?

Well if your tank still smells then put more carbon in there. That's what its there for is to get rid of odors and help clean the water.

If its an earthy type smell than thats good if its a fishy smell = bad

More water changes, especially vacuum gravel, use carbon, check for dead fish, and maybe purigen.

I had the same problem with one of my smaller tanks a 38 gallon that i keep my feeders in . wow what a stink about every couple days like you . i do not have a canister filter on it i had a hang on the back and i did not realize that dead feeder were getting sucked up and sitting in the filter creating a nasty smell . SO if you have hang on the back check it out for dead fish. and everyone is right CARBON

the weird thing is that i just set the tank up, and i always do water changes when somthing like this happens, but my other tanks have a smell but its just normal fishy water smell i guess? but this one is horrible and i constantly change water but it comes right back =( even with air freshners lol =/ ughh

To Mosdefenate... if it doesn't smell until you feed the tank you're feeding too much. Feed smaller amounts of food more often during the day.

to Tankbuster... if you've got a 55 with 2 400s on it, your carbon is bad. Use the gray baskets filled with about a teaspoon of GOOD carbon in each slot. That odor should disappear.
