Odyssea CFS 14i/ CFS 1200

N nossalucard for someone who has never actually owned the unit, you have very strong negative opinions. This all based upon "reviews" you've read off the internet.....which obviously must be true since they actually exist.

Let me reiterate, I actually own 3 off these units and been running them for multiple years with no issues. I've only replaced the orings on the hose connectors, and have never needed any shims. Never had any leakage, lids cracked, nor any electrical issues whatsoever. The unit feels much, much more durable than the Sunsuns.....which I've also currently own multiple units and been using for multiple years.

To the OP, I couldn't find the specific size o-rings for the hose connectors locally, but I did find them and bought them off EBay.

i'll be happy then from the 550gph 304b's to the 1400gph 14i's. here is a pic of the oring i googled from the modding post. also did i forget to say about 1" ports on this thing :)

as i mentioned before, my orings look to be proper size, so i think they may have addressed the issue finally

As I mentioned on a previous post, it goes on just fine, but its the removal that's a PITA! I think this happens as it expands with the warm tank water.

Does that o-ring from HD give the exact overall dimensions or just #17?

These are the dimensions you want to get: 15/16" ID; 1-1/8" OD; 3/32" wall

I haven't owned their pumps but my 48" power compact fixture from Odyssea has been running strong for 10 years.

My worst experience with canisters has been with Fluvals (replaced 2 in the last 5 years).

My best canister experience has been with a Marineland Magnum 350. Been running great for 15 years. Haven't needed to replace a single thing. No hoses, O-rings, nothing. And it's still as quiet as ever! I haven't personally owned the other Marineland canisters, but I remember that one of my clients had one start to leak when it was shut off. It was 3 years old. I ordered a new O-ring from Marineland and they actually sent an entire new filter completely free of charge. I have also seen them replace a 120g tank, equipment, and fish when their heater failed. They stand by their products!

My theory on the lids leaking issue is that users are over tightening the lids and/or tightening the lids in a sequence that's causing uneven pressure. What I do is lightly tighten opposite lid "screws", instead of just going in random order or going in order of one screw to the next adjacent. I can see how over time, uneven pressure displacement on the lid o-ring can cause it to become deformed....thus causing leakage

i run 3 of the 500s on my 220 and love them he never had any leaks or anything. it seams from what i keep hearing is everyone get leak around the orings on the valves. so to fix this problem DONT REMOVE THE VALVES. lol lift the top off with the hoses attached. im not to shour about he bigger ones but i love mine im running 4 of them

I have a custom setup for my intake/return plumbing, so removal would be a major PITA. As I posted, once I replaced with the proper sized O-rings, removal of the connectors was a snap and I've yet had any hint of any leakage whatsoever.........a $5 fix
