can someone post a link of a review of this thing or write one soon! this looks sweet!

honestly i dont understand the big mistrust of the chinese brands because people in asia are crazy about fish keeping. a lot of the stuff sold over there is super cheap and then shipped over here at 1000% markups especially things like bio balls and filters. so just because it's cheap doesn't mean its bad. could be just wasn't marked up a ton.

I'm looking forward to your review. I actually registered on this site just to say that and ask a couple questions. I have a 125g with a filstar xp3 and would like more filtration. I was thinking perhaps of buying an eheim 2215 or 2217 and use it in addition to the xp3. I also have a 60g with a fluval 404 on it so I'd like to try something new to see how different brands and designs measure up.

I'd like to know how this compares to a fluval fx5 if anyone has both. I was thinking of buying an fx5 for the 125g but if I could run a couple of these at a fraction of the price that would be awesome. Does the odyssea csf 500 say if it's 500gph with or w/o media? It looks like it has one giant bioball. Think this could be replaced with better media? Does it say how many watts it runs on? The fx5 is 48w listed on thatfishplace. It would give us a rough idea of the motor power anyhow.

Thanks!

Stan

it comes with bioballs but is the bottom part always submerged in water...so it would be better to use biomax or something else?

yes the bottom of the filter is always submerged. I think you're better off replacing the bio balls with something like seachem matrix or pond matrix... the problem is that the area in which the bio balls sit, the bottom of the tank is not in direct path of the water flow, the flow goes from the top of the tank, through the two sponges and into the tube in the middle.

hmm, so water barely goes through half of the sponge, since water goes in one side and out the middle..... what about the other side? so far looking at the vids and specs water flow is great deal but idk bout mech filtration then

debating on whether to do fluval for 230 or two of these for 120..
