I know these are on the cheap side, but picked up a 24" 65 watt dual tube bulb. I have a few plants in the tank and the tank is just a 20gal. Is this enough light for a semi-planted tank? Keep in mind I still plan on keeping fish in it so I'm not making it into a "little forest" :)

The guy said in the LFS, that this would even be good enough for saltwater setup in a 20Gal.

Whats your thoughts on this brand and lights?

they're fine for the cost, there are better fixtures out there but these work. i've heard that they're almost on the same level as coralife but i've never had either so i can't say. 65w pc would work for a 20g reef tank(saltwater FO don't need lots of light) depending on what species of corals and where you placed them. there aren't many plants you won't be able to keep in there.

I have a 4" 260 watt oddyssea that I got with a used tank set up. At the time it was 6 months old and I've owned it a year. So at 18 months old, this is what I think; It sucks, runs very hot, fans are noisy, insulation on the wiring is cracking and exposing the wire. IMO not worth the money.

I have a 48' odyssea light dual t5s. IMO Runs too hot, cheapy build and design. I also dont like how the ballast is this big box with a short cord. for the money the coralife aqualights are way nicer. But still not a bad light, gets the job done and is very bright. Just not my fav. But you could pretty much grow anything with that much light w/ that volume of water.

I run a 48" odysea 260 cf set up on my 55 planted, i never owned a coralife one but i'm rally happy with how this one performs, my plants grow like crazy, but i did swap out the bulbs for the coralife bulbs. heres a pic of my results and ive had the fixture about 5 months. Im prob gonna get another one , cant beat it for the money .
