Has anybody every used Odyssea T5 high output fixtures. I saw them on aquatrader, for 95 dollars which seems really inexpensive compared to 250-300 dollar current usa and others. I was wondering if they were descent to use as a temporary light until better ones can be purcahsed?

Yes I do

they are a good light fixture
the bulbs aren't that good but for the money it costs, who cares
I got the 48" 4x54W advance

Thats exactly what I was looking to get...good to hear I didn't really want to shell out 300 dollars for a light fixture when I could do it for 95

The dual leds are awesome

I got the Advance fixture so I could put them on a timer to turn on from 7pm to 12am so they illuminate the tank at night

each dual led is 2 leds and there are 4 dual leds on the fixture

Have you ever had any issues with the lights, because I got the word from some other people saying that odyssea T5s have a problem with causing fires?

no not at all

it was only the old original MH lights with the magnetic ballasts that had issues

Odyssea updates their equipment
the new MH's are good too and have electronic ballasts

does your fixture have individual reflectors for each T5? thats where this fixture usually s sucky compared to others. bulbs/ballast are most important and this thing lacks both. crappy ballast under drive bulbs which leaks to crummy life span. plus no individual reflectors, makes the light fixture even more inefficient.

I have not used this fixture but I have heard from a few reliable source's giving it a 50/50 review so I stayed away from it.
