heres a question to think about, would you rather farm fish or farm cows?

Cows :D

Honestly, I wish they shortened the limits and tried to lower the amount of ships that are sweeping the ocean like that. If they imposed something like that for a few years we would notice a difference.

:Dhave you ever caught crabs

ummm are we still talking bout seafood?

:uhoh:

I hate large scale ocean fishing, so harmful to wildlife, the environment and unnecessary. All this massive destruction so some people can enjoy certain dietary preferences.

People who choose to eat fish should check out the guidelines at the Monterey aquarium to help support more sustainable fishing practices.

ill eat what ever fish i feel like it but dolphins a nd whales is where i draw the line and other things suck as sharks and endangerd fish

but im still gunna eat crabs and lobsters
:D

I agree that many of the fish populations have declined from over fishing, but in most civilized countries like the U.S. there are a BAZZILION rules and regulations as to what you can catch and how much, and there is so much research being done onto the health and care for bycatch fish. There are researches everywhere studying fish populations and set a quota as to how much fish can be caught for there to be enough left to repopulate keeping a stable population. On many fishing vessel there are researchers doing studies on bycatch fish and ways to help keep fish safe and healthy. If you think the fisherman just go out there with the intent to catch as much as they can and kill off whatever wont make them money, then you are wrong. There are some other countries that don't follow as many rules as some places do, and those are the countries that will ruin our oceans.

I agree with the above. We do place strict restrictions on commercial fisherman in the U.S.

The harm comes mostly from other countries, in particular Japan. I love seafood, hell animal meat in general. I piss off my wife cause I REFUSE to eat a meal with out the main course being meat!

The only thing about that video that bothered me a LITTLE was the dolphins. I dont mind that they are killing them to eat, hell I wouldnt mind trying flipper my self. I dont particularly agree with the way they were killing them. Perhaps there is a better way to dispatch the animals.

There's obviously a little propaganda in that film but they are right in the general overview. I don't know about the mercury though. Poor dolphins i wonder how those fisher men view them,it looked horrible as its slit throat gushed blood. I know bottom trawling is destructive it is probably one of the worst things we do to the ocean. The USA may be trying to keep clean now but it wasn't always so,we should educate, does that poor malaysian fishermen really know how destructive it is,probably not,but he has to also feed the family.

Putting aside the dolphins highly popular image, such beautiful and unique animals should not be allowed to succumb to some sick 'cultural or religious' crap. I'm tired of this stuff. Other examples include the sun bears mutilated to extract their wonderous bile which cures cancer. NOT. And the farming and slaughtering of tigers for their bones, ground up and used in traditional chinese medicine. But it's alright because the stuffs very useful and does a whole lot of good...NOT. For me it's worse than murder!
