beautiful....thats funny cause i just went fishing this past weekend and caught 5 rainbows always that it would be neat to have one in the tank (pretty) but temps have to be very cold and probably require alot of water movement. maybe i'll just stick to my lmb....but Northerns would be neat to own as well.

very nice indeed..... but if people like to have them.... your stuck with those sp. of trout and other very cold temperate fish.... reason is they are very cold water fish... and then comes the chillers....
but IMO.. not to knock this thread or you scat... i would rather have SW fish if i had to have a chiller...
i wouldnt..salt sucks...

cuz i work in the hatchery system for Colorado, so I look at damn rainbows all the time. It would be cool to work at the native species restoration facility, but I'm not moving to that part of the state. Now, tiger trout would be cool to keep.

ya, anyway :D

It is possible to keep almost any fish. All it takes is a pocket full of cash. With the economy like it is alot of those loose pockets are gonna tighten up. I know mine are. After my 350g is setup like I want it, my pockets are closed for business till this crap blows over.

I think one of the mods, Johnptc or something like that has a 10k gallon tank, no reason why it couldnt be stocked with northern cold water natives. Chilling would cost a mint but it could be done.

I really like trout, especially brook trout. I'd like to have a cold water river tank one day for a bunch of them but I'd want to plan it out and do it right.

The water temp. is one obstacle then there are the local laws protecting these fish.

chillers are expensive and me living in nyc i have no access.. i have thought about it before ;)

This has always been another want of mine except if I was to do it it would have to be Tiger Muskie. The North American top preditor or at least a Northren Pike.

if somebody can get them ill deffinatly keep them.... ive been thinking of doing a few mative ponds...

Oxygenation shouldn't really be that big of a problem, anyone that keeps larger payara or dorado should be supplying a similar amount of oxygen to what most of these trout and salmon species would require I'd assume. The chiller would be the most expensive part but honestly...money isn't really an issue to quite a few members on here and if they wanted to go hardcore NA fish I'm sure you'd find things like these swimming in their tanks ;)

Salvelinus fontinalis and Oncorhynchus mykiss aguabonita look very nice indeed.

sorry to be off-topic..
