There is a cap, it is different. If they don't win this year, they can't just go get Kobe Bryant, or Michael Redd because they would be over the cap. However, the Yankees have the ability to sign whoever they want, as long as they have the money.

You can go over the cap....They went over it to get more players....I know how the cap works, and that baseball has none...They have two all-stars that were not there last year, True, or false? They have exceeded the salary cap and have a luxury tax now.....

Let me ask you this, why is it that lets say, the 90's Utah Jazz even though they kept coming up short year after year, didn't just go sign Patrick Ewing and Reggie Miller? Because Karl Malone was a max salary player. They couldnt just go buy them.

Their owner was not in a position where he wanted to pay a luxury tax?...As long as the free agent is unrestricted, you can sign him.....

The trick is, you don't sign your players right after the season...You sign big free agents...Then you can exceed the cap by any number, at the cost of the luxury tax....The Celtics are almost $30,000,000 over the cap as we speak....(but then again so are the Cavs...lol) Ben Wallace gets paid more than LeBron....:screwy: The difference is they traded equal value for their mid-season aquisitions....So Sam Cassell gets a free pass from my rage toward the C's...:ROFL::ROFL:

hmmm, I forgot how close the second game was. Still, i think the pistons will take it. Maybe they'll lose one road game, but they will take it in 4 or 5. As for the lakers...:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

kobe is pretty scary...but so is CP3! we'l c...lakers will probs win it though hehe

Orlando has a very good chance of winning tonight. I expect them to be getting the whistles (at least in the first half) because of what happened in game 2. And this is one of those classic games that the Pistons tend to not be interested in. They are up 2 games, feeling confident, and probably will take the night off.
