RAWR! Go Lions!!!

The roar has been restored! Actually, that's probably the only significant off season move the Lions will make. I'm sure they will end up screwing up that pick and giving 40 million to a bust. Failure is such a tough virus to overcome.

Boo...my lions thread was eaten by wurm's :p

anyways, the problem is that the lions are drafting a critical position in a qb-weak year. they should save their pick til next year and try to pick up bradford or mccoy

Looks as if "THE BEAST" is getting squashed in the pic below

For those who are interested, it was reported around here yesterday that the Lions have reached an agreement with Aaron Curry. This will be who they choose at #1 if they now cannot reach an agreement with Matt Stafford.

i'd take curry over stafford and try to pick up bradford next year and settle for one of the "travelling" qb's for now

We have Culpepper right now, so we have met our quota of "traveling" qb's for now.

edit: We also have Drew Henson.

Listening to Mike and Mike this morning. They has the commissioner, Goodel(sp?) on. He said the 32 first round picks will be paid a combined 600 million dollars, with 400 million of that being guaranteed money:eek:

That is fricking ridiculous:screwy: 400 million guaranteed to unproven players

my mock if selections if they stand, but we know there will be moves up and down and deals made for future picks and players.

1. DET, Matthew Stafford QB, Georgia (confirmed agreement)(I thought Det might change under a new GM but no, they agree to an unproven, thrown into a situation with no tallent around him--destined to fail..........they need to build on both sides of the line.......Maybe later in the draft)
2. St.L, Jason Smith OT, Baylor (sinse Pace is gone, Rams need a left-OT to protect a right-handed QB's blindside covered)
3. K.C., Eugene Monroe-OT, Virginia (either kick over the current left O-tackle over to right or develop Monroe at right, at worst for a pick here under rookie contract you can fall back on making him a guard)
4. SEA, Aaron Curry-OLB, Wake Forest (Best avail. player, some think the QB Sanchez--NO WAY!, they'll trade down or sellect Curry and get the bang for the buck ((I believe the only true blue chipper in this year's weaker draft)), rather than pay a 1st RD QB contract)
5. CLE, B.J. Raji-DT, Boston College ( The beast needed to fill the middle of a 3-4 D, and Mangina is gonna need his "Ty Warren" type guy to build a foundation for the BIG SMELLIES up front)
6. CIN, Brian Orakpo-DE, Texas (Any help on D and the kid is flexible at DE/OLB)
7. OAK, Michael Crabtree WR, Texas Tech (WR Play maker?, Al Davis? need I say more?)
8. JAX, Aaron Maybin DE, Penn State (Sanchez is predicted alot here, I just don't see the value, Maybins agent will call for a lessor contract in a year where DE/OLB is somewhat strong & having a great pass-rusher doesn't hurt--even when they rotate in)
9. G.B., Knowshon Moreno-RB, Georgia ( Pack's D plays well a few needs to fill and Rodgers, I think, had a great 1st year. A running threat could help play action and keeping defences honest)
10. S.F., Mark Sanchez-QB, USC (they're desprate, he's local Pete Carol ties, SF should trade down and look at D in the late 1st or build in the 2nd)
11. BUF, Malcolm Jenkins-CB, Ohio State (this would be perfect for BUF or they could trade down and look a pass rusher, RB or CB
12. DEN, Andre Smith OT, Alabama ( Before you think of drafting a rookie QB ((Josh Freeman)), protect his butt, build an O-line)
13. WAS, Tyson Jackson DE, LSU ( A great pass rusher can get sacks or cause hurried throws into a tallented seconardy--with who I believe is most increadible Safety--LaRon Landry)
14. N.O., Jeremy Maclin WR, Missouri ( Imagine Breese throwing to actual tallent?)
15. HOU, Brandon Pettigrew TE, Oklahoma State ( Good hand long, blocking could be better but he can stretch the middle of the field and a TE or RB with good hands are always the good dump-offs when a play is a bust)
16. S.D., Chris Wells RB, Ohio State (L.T.'s cry-baby-pouting years are numbered & they just lost their back up it only makes sence)
17. NYJ, Rey Maualuga-ILB, USC (this addative to the Jet's re-vamped D is scary)
18. DEN, Michael Oher OT, Mississippi (Before you think of drafting a rookie QB ((Josh Freeman)), protect his butt, build an O-line, yes 2 in the 1st)
19. T.B., Everette Brown-DE, Florida State (No need worrying about getting a QB, worry about getting to the QB)
20. DET, Vontae Davis CB, Illinois (Ball-hawking tallent, does returns, there are lots of needs and may trade down, but this kid can play)
21. PHI, Darrius Heyward-Bey WR, Maryland (safety & RB may look like the main needs but who has the leader "McNabb" had to throw to in years?---Give him 1 A-hole tallent for 1yr and he goes to the BOWL and hasn't had a #1 sinse)
22. MIN, Brian Cushing-OLB, USC ( They need to draft all over D, though the hype he slips here, I see him being a starter but never a star or play-maker)
23. N.E., Robert Ayers DE, Tennessee (Pats will more likely package some of their picks to move up if they could grab; Aaron Curry-OLB Wake Forest, B.J. Raji-DT, Boston College, Malcolm Jenkins-CB Ohio State if they fall past the 10th
24. ATL, Peria Jerry DT, Mississippi (defencive help would've help them go further in the playoffs)
25.MIA, Clay Matthews OLB, USC (Lots of upside, needs to be polished but still plays with great instincs)
26. BAL, James Laurinaitis-ILB, Ohio State (Lossed some key defencive players and the core at this D is the LB-ing crew)
27. IND, Hakeem Nicks WR, North Carolina ( Harrison gone? why not?)
28. PHI, Percy Harvin WR, Florida Again McNabb needs a #1 target, PHI will more likely trade out of the #21 pick or this pick
29. NYG, Kenny Britt-WR, Rutgers (Give Eli another target)
30. TEN, Larry English DE, Northern Illinois (the freak Kerse never panned out and Fisher loves to kill QBs (even his own!),,,,,,,,killer, punishing pass rusher)
31. ARZ, Alphonso Smith CB, Wake Forest (small in height but playes big even against much taller recievers((working against Fitz in practices can only help)), great ball-hawk, reads QB well, does returns
32. PIT, D.J. Moore CB, Vanderbilt (good to fit in nickle and dime packages and develop in a NFL corner)
