Yeah, I'd have to agree with that, pretty much ---- except Campbell. Chicago really didn't "lose" him. He's just injured and should be back in 4-5 weeks.

I think Byfuglein will end up being Chicago's greatest loss. He was a big part of Chicago's playoff success, especially against Vancouver. All 275 lbs. of him parked in front of the Vancouver net, annoyed Luongo to no end  Tough to see around him and gets goalies rattled and off their game.

They miss Campbell big time. He gets a rough ride from fans because of his contract but he is so crucial to what they do and most don't realize it until he's gone. Last season after the OV cheap shot and the first two games this season. They have quite a few solid young d-men but none are really ready to play this season. Leddy is being forced to play at the moment.

They showed last night they can still keep with Detroit while missing some crucial elements to their team. They could have won the game as easily as they lost it. By game 15 or so they'll be clicking on all cylinders. Need a little time for all roles to be defined and some stability on the lines and with the pairings.

Well, as usual it's gonna be a pretty exciting end to the NHL season, with final play off spots still in contention. this year seems to be closer then ever.
With 10-13 games left, there's 6 teams (7th to 12th place) in the eastern conference seperated by only 8 points (4 wins), fighting for the last 2 play off spots. I'm really hopin' New jersey ends up making it, instead of the NY Rangers. Absolutely amazing if they can do it, considering how far down in the standings and how terrible they were playing before the new year......all the more amazing about their come back is that they are doing it with out Zach Parise; there best Hockey player IMO.

The west is even closer. A lot of very good teams but some very good teams won't make the play offs. There is 8 teams (4th to 11th) all with in 8 points, all in contention for 5 playoff spots. It may not get decided until the last game of the season.

Now that the season has started, I'll make some drunk predictions:ROFL:, and we'll see how "out to lunch" I am, come april.

The West.

Division winners:
1. San Jose
2. Detroit
3. Vancouver
Make the playoffs:
4.Chicago
5.L.A.
6. Phoenix
7. Edmonton
8. Calgary
Out of the playoffs:
9.St. Louis
10. Colorado
11.nashville
12. Dallas
13.Collumbus
14.Annaheim
15. Minnesota

The East.

Division winners:
1. Philledelphia
2.Washington
3. Buffalo
Make the playoffs:
4. Pittsburgh
5.New jersey
6. ottawa
7. Tampa Bay
8. Boston
Out of the palyoffs:
9. Montreal
10. Toronto
11.Carolina
12. NY Rangers
13.Atlanta
14. Florida
15. NY Islanders

Well, not too far out:D. http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?type=con#&navid=nav-stn-conf For making the playoffs: 6/8 for the west and 6/8 for the east. Divisional winners: 5/6. As far as exact positions with in the conferances----4/30 (Phoenix 6th and Columbus 13th in the west; Pittsburgh 4th and Toronto 10th in the east). But with 30 teams it's pretty tough to guess their exact placings, though I really did think Philly was going to end up the top seed in the east-----but with out Chris Pronger out, they really didn't do well towards the end. (He's suposed to be back for game 1 against Buffalo).
Made predictions 1-2 games into the season and was really overly enthused with Edmonton's rookies:ROFL:Luv Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, but i think Edmonton is still probably at least a couple years from making the palyoffs. Despite coming last (30th) in the league for the second year in a row, they are actually much improved. At 50 games into the season, they had won or lost 36 of these games by only one goal (mostly lost:ROFL:). But at least it means there in the game and are no "cake walk".
Calgary came close. They were 14th place at the start of the year, but really played well in the new year. But they lost 3 games late in the season to Teemu Sealanne and the anaheim ducks. Don't know how this guy can play this well at age 40!:irked:

NJ--- absolutely dismal team before the new year (?); too far back to make it.
Ottawa--completely fell apart; didn't see that coming at all
Montreal---Price played a lot better then i thought he would; still a little mad at them for the halak trade last summer.

NY Rangers--Good team, good coach, great goaltender. No real suprise they made the playoffs, though i really thought other teams would make it instead.

Real excited for the start of the NHL playoffs tonight. making some 1st round predictions, though i must say, with the parity in the league(primarily due to the salary cap) it's really tough and more of a fluke to guess anything right in the playoffs. Parity is a great thing, IMO.....it makes every series interesting. All 16 teams have some chance at winning a Stanley cup, though of course, some teams are a better bet then others.

Vancouver vs. Chicago
Actually, probably a better chance for an upset in this series, then most. I don't really like the way some hockey analysts on T.V. and people I know, talk about the Canucks as if they were some kinda "shoe-in" to win the stanly cup. I'll be rootin' and cheerin' for the Canucks all the way.....but I think they will have a very tough time beating Chicago, let alone getting out of the western conference
Vancouver in 7 games.

San Jose vs. L.A.
No Kopitar and Justin Williams.
San Jose in 6.

Detroit vs. Phoenix
Bryzgalov can stand on his head.....I still think detroit will prevail.
Detroit in 6.

Anaheim vs. Nashville.
Besides Tim Tomas, Pekke Rinne might be the best goaltender in the NHL. Still, Anaheim's big line of Getzlaf-Perry-Ryan is tough to keep off the scoreboard and Nashville just doesn't have enough offence. Then there is the ageless wonder, Teemu Sealanne who scored 4 tying goals in the very last minute of a game, during the month of march......an NHL record for a 1 month period.
Anaheim in 5.

The eastern conference:
Washington vs. NY Rangers.
Washington has had problems with NY Rangers all year. With Lundqvist in net, NY Rangers definately have an advantage in goal, so i really do think there is a pretty good chance for an upset here.
NY Rangers in 7.

Philadelphia vs. Buffalo
With miller in net, Buffalo certainly has an advantage in net. But Philly has so much depth and once Chris Proger is back , that changes everything.
Philly in 6.

Boston vs. Montreal.
Unless Carey Price can pull a Jaroslav Halak, Boston is just too big and tough for Montreal. With Zdeno Chara (amongst others) and Tim Tomas in net, Boston is simply a better team!
Boston in 5.
Pittsburgh vs. Tampa Bay.
I'm expecting Dwayne Roloson to play very well. Of course if Sidney Crosby comes back, that would change everything to Pittsburgh's favour.
Tampa Bay in 7.

Go Canucks go!

Well, I was lucky enough to guess 6 out of 8 series right:); though only 3 in the correct # of games. So now I'll take a stab at the second round:

Vancouver vs. Nashville.....Vancouver in 6.

SanJose vs. Detroit.
This is going to be a good one; the game I'll be watching if 2 games are being televised at the same time. Could really go either way, but I'll pick Detroit because of how great they looked in the first round.
Detroit in 7.

Washington vs. Tampa Bay.....Tampa Bay in 6.

Philadelphia vs. Boston.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Boston defeats the mighty Flyers...... Boston in 7.
