it's never a good thing when you throw as many interceptions as eli did last year and then he loses 2 of his fav targets. i don't care how much potentional the brand spanking new rookies have.

what did new york offer steve smith? every report i've read has concealed the information. they really didn't offer one year 4 mil? talk about a risk free contract, you can extend his contract mid year if he's able to come back and be anything close to what he was before the injury. Sounds like they wanted to lowball him because he wanted to come back and were using his injury as an excuse to low ball him.

I actualy found out that the Giants wern't allowed to match the offer even though Steve Smith told them he would let them. Coach Coughlin was pissed off because of it. I think if Smith had actually given them a chance, they would have at least come close, because they really did want him back, but didn't think the market was there yet because Smith didn't really say that the Eagles were that interested.

Smith's agent says different(see below) Why wouldn't the Giant's get off their butts and sign him if that was their intent? Their hope was nobody would be interested because of the injury and then they could sign for cheap, looks as if there plan came back to bite them in the rear.
Smith's agent, Ben Dogra, disputed Coughlin's claim.

"I did not. I never told them at any point (that they would have the chance to match other offers)," Dogra told The Star-Ledger. "And, in fact, I'll take it a step further. I told them, 'Hey, I just want to be candid with you, I have another team that's going to be in the mix on a one-year deal.' So I did tell them that.

"If you have a sense of urgency, sometimes when you have a free agent, you can negotiate against yourself, you negotiate and wait for us, or you just negotiate to get a deal done. That's the prerogative of the club. We have no obligation to go back."

yup, i was going to repeat the same the bderick just shared. they were trying to lowball him. i'm sorry, they should've wrapped him up and not even given another team a chance to negiotate with him. they were hoping to bid against themselves and lowball him because of the injury. hell, im sure he would've jumped at a multi year contract if the philly one year offer was the best he could find

Sounds like the giants will be pretty desperate, probably in the play for T.O. now. lmao!

Yeah I know the Giants should've offered more in the first place. It all comes down to them, sure Smith didn't let them try and match it (IDK if they would or not), but they shouldn't have let it get this far in the first place. Oh Well, I guess one fan like me has no say in what the front office does.

Their not really desperate. We actually have some nice recievers in house that can fill the need. Him leaving just makes more balls available for Nicks and Manningham, who are athletically better recievers than Smith. Victor Cruz, who was the best reciever in the preseason last year, but got injured in the last week of it and was placed on IR looks really good and I think the Giants Front Office believes he's the real deal. We also have Domenik Hixon who has started many games for us over the last couple seasons. This really reminds me of 2009, when everone thought we had a really weak recieving core. Steve Smith was just considered OK and Hixon was our other starter. The rest of the recievers were really young. I think Cruz will be what Nicks was to the 09 team. He'll contribute and will show a lot of potential, but won't be ready yet. Devin Thomas will be like Mannningham, someone with skills but who is stuck in a backup role.

This was our depth chart in 09:
1.Domenik Hixon
2.Steve Smith
3.Mario Manningham
4.Hakeem Nicks
5.Sinorice Moss
6.Ramses Barden
7.Derek Hagan

projected 2011 Recievers:
1.Hakeem Nicks
2.Mario Manningham
3.Domenik Hixon
4.Victor Cruz
5.Devin Thomas
6.Ramses Barden

I'd take 2011 over 2009 anytime. Yet in 2009, Eli Manning had a career year, with a bad running game. Now he has a top 10 running game to pair with his recievers. If they can stay healthy, I think our recievers will be better this year. Not many people realize that Derek Hagan and Michael Clayton were two of our 3 starting recievers for multiple games. Hagan actually started 6 for us last year. 6!!!! Hagan would be number 8 on that list if he was still on the team this year, even behind Michael Clayton who is still on the team, but probably will be cut unless we take 7 receivers again (which is possible). I'm not freaking out anymore about our recievers because I know that unless we loss everybody AGAIN (hopefully lightning won't strike twice), our recievers will be much improved compared to last year. Oh and Travis Beckum is also a great reciever, he'll get a bigger role too.

Sorry about the long post, I just start writing and can't stop lol.

here's how i see it, eli manning throwing to anyone = interceptions roflmao. i'm just giving you a hard time bro cuz i hate that man

Finally the ravens have a receiver who can take the ball deep and the top off the defense!

def what they were missing last year. this is why you wait til free agency is done to make your playoff predictions. i see this is as significant upgrade if they can bring in a slot reciever to go with boldin and evan
