I honestly don't even mind a selection committee for a 4 team playoff. It sounds better then using only the 2 computers rankings and one human poll.

Truth is no one will ever be completely happy. Some 4 loss conference champ will get in with 8 and all the hoopla will start up again

very true... did you get the popcorn joke,btw, I thought you would see the humor... whole thing about this being anti_sec is kinda fun really , just shows you how tied the sec fans are in self esteem to their religion (football)
 
Why I'd love a 8 team playoff, I disagree with taking the conference champs. I can't remember whom it was, but someone a few years ago got into a BCS game with like a 6-5 record because they won their conference. I rather take the top 8 in the polls, even though the poll system is messed up. Of course, I don't think 6 wins should get a team into a bowl game either. I miss the days when the bowl games meant something.

I AGREE ON THE POLLS BEING MESSED UP ... just stop and think about the possibilities of an 8 team playoff ..every conference would probably split up into 2 divisions.. that keeps more teams in the hunt... so in effect it would be a 16 team playoff (with conf. championships being the first round)every few years you would have a boise or tcu or byu make a run and become the football version of BUTLER or george mason.. it would make MARCH MADNESS seem like a minor thing ... even the sec fans would dig it after a while cause their team (south carolina , mizzou ,, this year) would HAVE a chance.. as Far as that 6-5 team are you thinking of UCONN
 
I'm sure it will expand to 8 once the NCAA realizes they'll make more money with the playoff system than the current system. That was their major objection, they feared the loss of revenue.

yep,, but according to my source the ncaa is LOCKED INTO a 14 year contract ,, with no intention of a buy out... so that's why I am screaming for a change ,,, it has to start somewhere,,, I have been a football playoff "guy" for 20 yrs.. I would love to live long enough to see a REAL playoff
 
That's fine by me, 14 years of a 4 game playoff is better than even 1 more year in the current setup.
 
I am not convinced(and I TRULY hope I am wrong) that any playoff , this small, with a selection committee will be anything more than a beauty contest dictated by media bias and howling fans.. kinda like it is now,, I DO TRULY HOPE :)I AM WRONG
