It doesn't matter if it would have stuck or not. They were out of time. (Ref): Pats ball on the 1 yardline with no time left. Winner is still the Panthers.

Game can't end on defensive penalty. Would have 1 untimed play.

yeah what he said. we're looking at gronk and the offensive line lining up and trying to push the pile for a lagerret blount run for 1 yard. i'm not sure he would've made it but i sure as hell would've love to have seen it.

Hate to see a game end that way, but then it could be seen as karma given the PI that wasn't called on Talib holding Gonzalez at the end of the Falcons game. Love watching Steve Smith make him look average, not as good a player when he can't hold. :woot:

Honestly, I felt they should've started the third risking an intentional late hit (the way you see the saints, jets, steelers do) to let Peyton know we're here until they got flagged for one and then backed off.

Peyton did take one hit though, when he tackled the guy with the fumble recovery lmao

Smith is smith, when you throw down field less then 25% of the time on the season, you can't expect him to suddenly do it under the lights in a big game. His confidence needs to be built up. I mean for goodness sake the RB leads the team in receptions
Yeah, weve improved a lot, but the Broncos game showed we still have some important changes to make before we play Denver at home in two weeks; it was a big weekend for the Giants and Steelers......Lol its not over till its over!

Ahmad Brooks fined $16,000 for the hit on Drew Brees..

That's BS. Ray Lewis said he'd pay half of it though. Heck, even the two quarterbacks on the ESPN broadcast said it was a clean hit.

Agreed. And if it were against Kaepernick or RGIII it would have been a clean hit. Might as well just put Brees in a red no contact jersey. bastards

I watched a breakdown of that tackle on NFL Network, and as the rules are listed now I guess it was a penalty even though the hit started clean. On QB's if it rides up to the neck or head, it's still called. So the initial hit was clean, but as Brees fell it became a penalty. Which is still BS, since I guess you can't tackle them to the ground anymore. They might as well be playing baseball out there. There still should be no fine though, I hope he contests it.

No point of contesting it, he might get it ever so slightly reduced but unlikely

Anyways, its well known you can't drive them to the ground ever since the hits Favre was taking in his last 2 seasons

I don't think he should've been fined though. The penalty on the field already cost him enough.

Sportsscience claims it was pass interference on gronk as contact started when the ball was still in the air preventing him from breaking on the ball. Perhaps holding should've been called and then the fact the ball got intercepted or if gronk could break on the ball no longer matters

Yeah, the way I understand it is the interception negates the PI call, but it still could have/should have been defensive holding.
