official dither thread!!!

buenos aires tetras are very good for smaller cichlid dilthers ...:)they are fast , active and pretty +they are TOUGH for little guys(2-3 inch)
 
Tiger barbs are pretty decent for smaller fish as well...plus they look nice.
Giant danios are also a good choice, nothing can catch them.

I disagree on bala sharks though...I tried some larger ones with some small africans and they got killed off in a day. They are just too slow and fragile.
 
Good info guys! I'd like to hear some one comment on this one: I've read recently that a Midas cichlid is a good dither for a festea... Kind of counter intuitive lol can some one elaborate?

Not so much a dither as a battle to the death or an unintentional pair . Neither is really good. Where did you read this?

As stated above, lemon barbs, tinfoils cheap and effective dithers, wide bar sd's my favorite cause they look good and eat everything. Their round shape is also deceiving and prevents them from too much punishment. I personally have both.

+1 they are great dithers for smaller cichlids, as are rainbowfish IMO
