What type of body of water was he caught in? Looks like a cichlid for sure but the specifics of it I can't be sure.

I culled this thread a bit. If you have a coldwater, temperate or NA native fish that need identification post it here. If you have identification suggestions on what posted fish are also post it here. Anything else will just clog up this thread and make it difficult to navigate.

i posted a link to the fish,it got deleted.
Polypterus got it mostly right,its a port cichlid.

Wow Two VERY similar Fish All the way around ..

A Centrarchid (Sunfish) which one is impossible to correctly ID from that pic. I would guess one of the Lepomis or Amploplites.

it didnt look like a sunfish.
looked more like some type of bass.

warmouth, i think, large mouth and the color is right where was it caught.

don't think it is a green there were no black spots on the anal fin and the other fin.
