Here.
Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if you guys remember my previous thread about IDing internal parasites. Anyways, I got around to getting a microscope and took a picture of the fecal matter of my male ray.

The attached picture is a fecal sample from him. It appears to me as if he is inflicted by worms. I can not locate any other parasites, but the worm is clearly visible in this slide. I will be making more slides and taking photographs of them. Hopefully, this thread will become a database for different internal parasites and will benefit to many others in the future who are inflicted with such problems.

You input is greatly appreciated!

Best,
Jeff

interesting and very good JOB!, but i have a question. How did you get a picture of it magnified?

Very tediously, I didn't buy a digital microscope so I used my webcam and positioned it just right. Worked fantastically though.

sorry for my ignorance, positioned it to look thru the microscope?

Exactly. =]
Not ignorant at all, we're all here to learn and spread knowledge.

Can anyone ID this type of worm? So we can get a database of parasites started.

everyone says don't just treat, I.d. the parasite first, maybe someone will chime in and help with this!

sorry for the derails

+1 this is a great idea, hopefuly somone can give you more advice.

good work mate, I agree with the worms only diagnosis but Im by no means a pro or experienced in this part of the hobby.

It is confirmed that my female has worms (exact ID unknown) as well. The first picture is a fecal sample from her.

And the second is of the male again from a different sample. Noticed something odd above the obvious worm. It looks like a whole mass of another type of worm maybe?

PS - the images can be enlarged even further by clicking on it. These pictures are taken at rather high resolution.

Thanks everyone for the support!
