no there is isnt, we catch pucks between our arm and body all the time, but your right the motion of the swinging of the stick is what will get him a suspension. Osgood did catch him with the butt end of the stick as he skated by chasing for the puck but he would have been better off punching Osgood over using his stick in that manner, thats a big no no in the league. Osgood actually grabbed for the side of his body when on the ground not his chest, or arm pit area, he was embelishing was my point.

I think he was embelishing too, but he did say after the game that it just kinda freaked him out seeing the guy come at him with a two handed slash like that.

that was a chicken :swear: move by osgood. couldve done alot more damage then a two hander on someone with a suit of armour on.
 
true but that motion of the stick with the two hander will be what gets him in trouble, not the damage it causes.
 
I just checked for an update at espndotcom and the word is that both Ribeiro and Osgood were fined and no suspensions were handed out.
 
The difference is whether you like it or not, Osgoods move was during the play, Ribero's came after the whistle. I'm not saying I agree with it but, Osgood could always say he didn't mean to do it, taking away the intent (or at least making a gray area), but you can't explain away ribero's intent when he baseball swings at a guy.
 
It's not even fun to watch a 5 on 4 the whole game. They have destroyed this league. very sad. They obviously know who they want to go to the cup, but damn, dont make it so obvious. If I were from Detroit I would be ashamed to win that way. 5 on 4 all the way to the cup? The Av's had no chance in all those 5 on 4 games either, very sad. Shame on you NHL. :thumbsdow
 
Players take cheap shots like Osgood did because they have taken away inforcers out of the game. And it will continue to get worse as they weed out the pretectors. Shame on you NHL. again, I love hockey but this is why they have the lowest ratings of all pro. team sports. :thumbsdow
