Age old debate with Capitol punishment brother. An issue I'm pretty neutral about. But the opponents of capital punishment site 3 main arguments.
Death penalty isn't an affective deterrent. Many states with the death penalty have higher murder rates than states without it. Suggesting it has no positive effect on crime rates
It's often times more expensive to put someone to death than life in prison. With due process, the right to an attorney, years of appeals, the astronomical cost of death row housing because we have privately owned prisons, plus the costs of execution, this often ends up more expensive than housing for life.
Innocent people. There have been by some (ALCU very liberal) estimates over 100 innocent people executed in the United States that are now known after the fact to be innocent (DNA evidence, confessions etc). Can't really exonerate a dead guy.
Debate aside this guy is scum. I want him dead.
