Picked it up as a red devil don't think it's that was thinking it may be a petsmart flowerhorn

I posted these pics in the sticky thread for red Texas / flowerhorn but I guess I should have posted here instead since its a "post your PK flowerhorn pics" thread.

I just picked up this fish last week from a LFS and she is at least 12 inches long and close to 6 inches tall. She is huge or at least I am guessing she is female due to the black on the dorsal fin and no big kok. She obviously is partial flowerhorn due to the markings and has a faded flower so if male I would expect some kok. She has a veja body shape though and since she is so large I am guessing there is Veja of some sort mixed in. After seeing others pics I am starting to think this fish could have originally come from Petsmart as a PK flowerhorn which still just means it's a mutt.

The last pic looks like a female ZZ. Could even be a red dragon if that red brightens up as it gets older. Red dragons and Super red dragons are all Zen Zhou strains. The ZZ strains usually have long trailers on dorsal and anal fins and no tail wrap. They have the oval or egg shaped long bodies.

Kamfa strains usually have shorter square bodies with tail wrap which means the tail fin is shorter and fanned out. The dorsal and anal fins don't have long trailers and this creates almost no gap between the tail, anal and dorsal fins which is what they call tail wrap. Kamfa eyes are usually sunken in and not usually red. ZZ strains eyes are usually red and more popped out.

I say usually on many of these characteristics because a lot of flowerhorn are mixed from both strains.

So with all that said, yours has more ZZ characteristics than Kamfa.

cool thanks a lot for the info i appreciate it. the female turns pink a lot more often than the male. the males pearls turn light blue and greenish a lot. these ones arent actually from petsmart i got them at a small fish store but got a good deal $15 each.​

So i saw this thread last night and read about what people have found, when i was at petco today i went to see what they had, labeled as a texas cichlid i saw the guy for 5.99 i was like hmmm i wonder if this is what that tread was about last night, so for 5.99 i was like ill buy him and see what you guys think

I bought this guy yesterday at PetSmart. never had a FH before but it caught my eye. It's about 2.25" and banged glass at the store. Crappy pic but it looked to have a lot of potential.
