Do you still have the receipt? I would take it back to Walmart.

Tell them at the store that: "This item was NOT as described" and you want a refund!

I made the same mistake in the early days. However, I inherited the red belly Pacu and the 55 gallon tank together. Damn, I remember that fish would get so spooked when the lights were suddenly turned on and slam into the side of the tank. It would hit so hard, I was sure the tank was going to crack some day.

Funny story, I had an Asian cable guy come to my house to do an install. He spoke broken english. When he saw the fish, he asked me if "I eat" meaning the fish. I said 'No" but he further went on and said: "No, no good eat!! I come and cook for you!" In hind site, I maybe should've taken him up on the offer ... made for an even better story too. The point is that many fish that we may keep in the aquarium are actually food fish in their native countries.

This forum makes me realize how much we are obsessed with fish. Right now I'm actually "flaring" at my betta on my desk and watching crickets mate lol.

So how do you clean the 1000 gal tank? Wet suit?? I ask, because I'm barely tall enough to reach the back bottom corners of my 125 gal...

um my tank is 4ft long - he can't possibly get that big. I was thinking I needed somewhere between 300-500 gallons for him.

Altho they are right. Be realistic get a 240. Housr him in that. Get some other cool fish in the hobby. And eat the darn pacu. People are pro choice yet your stuck with a pacu for life? Makes no sence

So my bf agreed to build me a tank - I requested 500 gallons but he is considering finishing the basement (it's more than 75% done) and building a 1000 gallon.

The only catch is, is that I have to buy him a 60 inch TV to also put down there. -

Wow what a lucky guy. I think he planned this from the start. He was shopping around Walmart thinking how can I get my GF to buy me a 60" TV

Hahaha I bet you are right! Sneaky little .... Either way I think the fish is awesome. He follows me and I swear he watches me when I'm in the room. I've been reading other boards on builds and watching YouTube videos. My bf is very handy but we'll need guidance on filtration. I'm ready to get started!
