A while back BLIND platinum endlis were being sold for much more than the regular two-eyed platinum endlis!! Birth defect where the "skin" totally covered the eyes...... so using this logic, your captain Morgan might be worth more!!
On a serious note, a bichir can be blind and still find food. no need for target feeding unless it is being out-competed by other more aggressive eaters.......
I want to add that polys have OK eyesight...... not eagle eyes........ but they CAN see fairly well...... some species within the genus Polypterus (in general) have better eyesight than others........ I think they are far from "poor sighted" as many articles tend to state..... I think people just assume this as factual BUT down the road science will reveal otherwise........ my two cents........
