In the last 4-5 yrs the line I have come to know best and use all the time both in fresh and in saltwater is what my friends and I have come to call "OH NO POWER PRO" on every hook up you all but hear the fish scream "Oh No Power Pro". My self personally I have caught fish of all sizes in freshwater upto a 12.2 lbs Lrg Mouth Bass. Regardless of what type of lure I'm using.
In saltwater fishing med-lite tackle the only fish in recent memory to brake a rod on me, still was landed after the rod snapped and the line held. Berkely's Power Pro is all I use now. Then last year I met a young guy that fished the waters around NYC for Stripe Bass, the only thing loaded on his reels was 100lbs Power Pro. At first I thought that this kid was nuts until I saw a video he made of a catch he said was a 5-6' Tiger Shark. Knowing that was impossible I asked if he had a photo of the Shark that hit his line back in Sept of 2005. I originally thought that he caught a large sand shark and didn't know what it was because he kept saying it was a Tiger Shark, and described the Shark as having a pointed snout. After viewing the video I told him what he had landed back then was in fact a Mako.
Where ever we go fishing and he get stuck in the rocks or whatever he is normally able to pull or work his line and riggs free. I have even seen where he has pulled his Blackfish hooks straight while freeing his riggs. This year up north I have changed my lines too 40lbs Power Pro, because I don't wish to destroy my expensive Bait Runnners Reels on a hook up on 100lbs test that still couldn't stop. Last year Sept of 2006 I landed a 40+ inch Stripe Bass on 25lbs mono and just as I got him within gaffing range he snapped the line, but the gaff was set and the fish was mine. This year all Reels have "OH NO POWER PRO" on them.
