what do you mean they dont cast well they have no memory to mess you up. Also im going to say that you probably are jerking the rod to hard and just ripping it out of the fishes mouth

Memory or not it has always whipnotted more when I've used it. When a fish strikes a crank mono helps the fish engulf the lure a little deeper since it does stretch some. Also helps if you have a rod that is a little more limber. It is better ro hook a fish with a less aggressive hookset regardless when you are using a crankbait. I can land 20 pound class salmon that are fresh with 10lb pline evolution-so super heavy line is unnecessary. Braids are just a replacement for fighting skill in many situations, especially when cover is sparse or nonexistent. I have seen idiots with 30lb powerpro using poles rated for 6-10lb test use and their drag is cranked tight. Then they don't understand why a running salmon snapped their rod. Braids have their time and place but they are hardly all powerful. Besides, where's the sport in using line where the fish don't have a chance?

dont pull braid equals no skill bull **** braid doesnt automatically mean heavy line. I use 6 pound fireline. For finesse fishing for the less drag from water movement. Ive fought a 12 pound catfish with 4 pound braid took me 20 minutes but i got it. Not because of line strength but due to proper rod usage. And those jackasses using braid obliviously only know how to drag a fish out of the water.
Sorry about rant. but you need to pack the line down better when you first put it onto the reel

You like to fish with braid, I prefer copolymer or mono. I even said there is a time to use braid. I just personally prefer yo only use it for huge fish around heavy cover for obvious reasons. I do use 4 lb braid sometimes when I want super fine line diameter. I still think too many people use 30-40 lb braid when they don't really need to. These people may as well just trap/net their fish. These comments are just generalizations so please don't take them personally.

I've been using Power Pro braided line for about 3 years now, but I also use mono filiment. I've never had much issues with backlash using braided lines. If I did it was because of user error. But I enjoy both types of line equally.

When I say whipknotting I don't mean backlashing. I am talking about when it knots casting with a spinning reel. Has nothing to do with user error.

oh thats just you put the line on the reel wrong or you are getting line twist due to to use. Its happens for every type of line. Also the fact of no memory might cause it due to you not checking to see if there is a loop in the line before starting to reel in. I had that problem but since my bail broke and doesnt swing own on its own i havent had and loops and knots form.

this tangle your talking about is a very common thing its known as wind lash and is a user error. what happens is when you close the bail and the lines not tight it raps around say your spool, you reel in the line not knowing, and then the next cast you take you get a huge tangle. This would be prevetible if you would just keep a watch on the line when casting light stuff or in wind. Its just something you get used to watching for when you use the line every time you go fishing. Ive been fishing power pro for at least 6-8 years and it still happens to me, just not near as bad/often as it used to.

Is Power Pro better than Fireline? Casting distance, tying knots and cutting them easier with Power Pro than Fireline?

That depends on what type of reel you are using? Fireline is specifically made to be used with spinning reels even though many people use them on other type reels.

Yeah I know what you mean but liketofish says that happens with all lines. especially if the lines isn't taught enough on the reel. I just find it alot easier using Power Pro to just pull the knots out by hand, than with other lines. With other lines I'm standing there picking and pulling until it's all free but with Power Pro normally I just grab the two ends and pull. The knot pops right out, at least in 85%~90% of the cases. With mono if I did that I would be in knot hell.

The thing is that braid doesnt degrade as much as mono when its pulled apart like that. Also mono has a lot of friction(so when casted out of a spinning real it catches more) while braid is very slippery and runs over itself easier.
