Iv dealt with combative drug addicts and a whole multitude of other crap today, so Im not gonna waste my breath. Ignore facts if you want, not my problem. Im not gonna change your opinion here today nor you mine.

at least you aren't pressing a bad position ...that is certainly against your nature ..and shows growth:) but I will challenge you to find one credible source(census) that shows world population decreasing in any year since 1919.. date off the top of my head , I might be off by a year

I would love to believe world population (census taking)is a matter of opinion...it would give me hope:)....... wow I THINK I just discovered the key to happiness"if you wish it it is so"

You guys gotta watch those videos on the site. Population hasnt decresed but we are reaching a point where growth is slowing and may soon plateau if not start to decrease. People arnt still have tons of kids in most parts of the world.

Alright I still have 6 hours on my shift (takes leap forward!! Its only 6 instead of 7) & after getting thrown around but a 300 lb+ guy that was able to lift me with one arm as I tried to restrain him im tired. Yall have a good one and stay off drugs. They make you super hero strong and get a needle in your bone.

Maybe I missed it but will the damn for sure make this species go extinct? Or is it assumed?
Also there's no other river this species is found or is it a fragmented subspecies?

not for sure ..that is why early in the thread I was trying to point out the wwf guy was speculating...ALSO... nowhere does it say that these are the last of their kind ,or even close, they are just rare in those waters..it was not indicated HOW rare worldwide they are,,, funny how things are interjected into the story.................
after short research on wikapedia .. it seems these dolphins are semi-widespread in south ASIA and NO indication of anything near extinction was indicated,,,so interjecting a little reality into the thread...it is a shame but hardly species threatening...maybe the WWF guy is just trolling for contributions ,,as is standard operating procedure for animal rights groups in general?

I'll answer my own question! The Irrawaddy dolphin has a population of over 7,000 est. they are not just found in freshwater but, costal estuaries, rivers, lakes, and the ocean in Southeast Asia. Of the est. 7,000+ only 78-91 live in the Mekong river.
So as you can see this damn will HARDLY wipeout a species like everyone is so in in arms about. The damn is only being installed on one of the many channels of the river. Notice in the article the words COULD and MAY are used a lot so technically the dolphins could be unaffected by this damn. Please everyone do your research on this subject..

upon further revue the species IS considered endangered OUTSIDE of BANGLADESH & INDIA...so this might be pretty bad...but like you say ,it is speculation

Good job clearing all that up and shedding some light on these mammals.I had never even heard of them before and it still sad if they can't be moved to another location.
