You guys gotta watch those videos on the site. Population hasnt decresed but we are reaching a point where growth is slowing and may soon plateau if not start to decrease. People arnt still have tons of kids in most parts of the world.

Alright I still have 6 hours on my shift (takes leap forward!! Its only 6 instead of 7) & after getting thrown around but a 300 lb+ guy that was able to lift me with one arm as I tried to restrain him im tired. Yall have a good one and stay off drugs. They make you super hero strong and get a needle in your bone.
watching "INFORMATION" vids on obscure websites is a good way to get dumber...try PBS..or cnn or yahoo...you might find yourself better informed... or maybe try READING a history book NOT written by somebody from a "news channel" or with the last name "BECK ..O'REILLY..or PALIN...hint.....if they are pimpin' you to buy t-shirts ...they ain't "the news"

"We transform the ecosystem to sustain ourselves" is the only real fact I pulled out of that nytimes article, note how it is under the OPINION column and not the science column. He provided 0 facts and figures to accompany his opinion, also did not say a single word about preserving nature. This guy and people like him seem willing to sacrifice everything other then ourselves for the sake of more humans.

This is what is wrong. We should not be willing to sacrifice so much just for more population. The way he puts it it seems he would have every forest clear-cut for farmland to sustain the population, well now we know factory farming doesn't work too well seeing as to keep up almost all commercial farms use messed up hormones and genetically modified organisms. GMOs that literally damage our DNA, making us more susceptible to cancer.

Also, him citing the past doesn't really have anything to do with the situation now. In the hunter-gatherer and early agricultural phase there was plenty of big game and small game of all sorts to hunt, now, not so much. Because of us. I've always wanted to know what the world would look like w/o us destroying it all. Who knows, maybe if we hadn't been so selfish we would still have elephant-like animals in the Americas, giant sloths, it could have possibly even given the chance for another intelligent specie to develop so we wouldnt have this encompassing attitude that we are more important then say the irwadaddy dolphins.

In reality, we are the most expendable resource on this planet. We are not rare, we are not one of a kind. There are billions of us. I can't believe any real scientist not being backed by the church or someone else that benefits from people having more children would deny overpopulation.

some rely on the opinion page for "news",,,reading somebody like GEORGE WILL all the time you get 1/2 the scoop ...just like watching the "ED SHOW "on msnbc... you can't tell the people that watch that stuff anything ,,they already know everything and just tune in for confirmation... it is a shame.....major policy decisions are rendered according to national polls dictated by the people who watch this stuff...

*Facepalm*

Typical of you. Take a few min and read or watch. You can use other sites but that one is just condensed. How about nytimes?

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/09/14/opinion/overpopulation-is-not-the-problem.html

read it for the most part(as much as I can stomach)..this guy is an ASSOCIATE PROF(that means he is your basic college teacher) at a medium size school outside DC...lets check on his income ...I will BET some of it comes from energy companies or a conservative pac or the agiculture industy or the meat industry,(lots of people have much to lose ,if you actually get educated),,,as regarding the article itself it (conveniantly) leaves out polution problems ...water shortages ...starvation in drought ridden countries ...shall I GO ON?....he sticks to stuff the young(college students )and the less traveled can see in front of them...the..."if I can't see it it must not be happening" theory ...it just don't fly, pards
