bala sharks, silver dollars

SD's and Balas are a little larger and more common than we would like, but may be an option. roselines would be awesome, but they are too expensive. i'lll have to look into aurulius barbs. we had some tiger barbs in there before, but they killed each other till only one was left :screwy:.

there is no texas in the tank and the JD is pretty laid back. they do like to dispose of plecos and the acei killed 2 giant danios, but everything else is usually fine. she even had some rescue gouramis in there that never got killed.

edit: http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Minnows, Barbs.htm has aurulius barbs listed as medium barbs, which would probably work. something that's about 4-5" would be great. the uro could possibly eat them when it's full size, but by then she'll probably have to get rid of it anyway. maybe, i'll just give her my tinfoils when I get tired of them, lol.

Jumbo black skirt tetras. They're easy to find, cheap, and big enough that they won't be eaten (but not too big to become a problem). And they won't take away visually from the cichlids since they're not colourful or silvery. And they school very well.

Also, they're micro-predators in their own right - I have some in with a pike and a Green Terror and when I threw a woodlouse in the tank expecting the pike to eat it, the black skirt's jumped all over it. Was neat.

i've been looking at african clown barbs not to common but available. and intresting looking

I am thinking that he doesn't like the black skirts...:)

haha, yeah, she doesn't mind the tetra (doesn't especially like it), but I hate it, lol. I like quite a few other tetras, though. we're going to the lfs later, so we'll see. wish roselines weren't so expensive. maybe, we'll go with some "medium" tetras and medium barbs.

ended up getting some tetras, a rainbowfish (to see how it does) and 3 SD's. we're getting some loaches for the bottom, too.

This was going to be my suggestion, get 6 or 7 clown loaches they are quite entertaining.
