i think clamps are my best bet. i dont have the money right now for a new tank.

what about the other two tank you purchased some time ago...you should get those set up

The greater the surface area of the clamp the less likely it is to snap the glass.

If you could clamp a length of wood to the front and back panel, then set a clamp from front to back on the wood it would help.

bingo. Or drain it and take out the brace and use a good adhesive to put a fresh new one in. I have had to do that before.

he means that if you use a small (narrow) clamp on the glass then the pressure being exerted on the glass will focus on that one small area and possibly make it easier to snap. Take a 2 x 4 and lay it horizontally and use the clamps to brace it across the tank on the front and back. That will make sure the load is distributed evenly across the tank glass (or as evenly as it can without that center brace).

wheres it broken at?? put up a picture if ya could... if its a plastic center brace those can be fixed with a little plastic welding

For a quick temporary fix. Lower water level, bend a couple metal coat hangers. To the proper length, bend the ends about an inch, silicone or tape to tank. Put them at about 1/3's across the top.

A good longer term fix would be shown in the picture. Drain the tank half way or so, place foam pads between the tank and the 2x4. If you only have one clamp put it in the middle it should be all you need, if you are paranoid use more as shown. Tighten the clamp very very gently till then feel snug against the wood this is the tricky part, don't over tighten. Be careful selecting your wood so that it's not warped. This should hold for a very long time so you can get a new tank. Don't know anyone who's had luck with gluing the broken spars but you can try.
