congradulations... i had the 3000 last week but upgraded to the 5000 this week.. the 3000 was awesome... but it did not have video.. i don't take much video but i like having it when i want to... your going to love the d-3000 .. great pics so far ...

tried to use the s mode like you said .. but i just dont have enough light to really use fast shutter speed to get the action photos .. and i dont have another flash to make up the diff .. any ideas? or what kinda settings should i be looking at?

yeah you really needs lots of light or a wireless flash to use fast shutter speeds and avoid the blur.

on my 400g, i use the following with a 48" 4x T5HO fixture

- S mode
- ISO 200
- auto white balance
- shutter speed from 1/40 to 1/80, depending how close the fish is to the light

if you cant provide lots of light, set your ISO to auto, maybe that will help. but the higher the ISO the more noise the pics will have (grainy resolution)

very nice shots!
yea i would say thanks .. but i didnt do anything .. point and shoot with a little fumbling around .. its really just the Nikon doing its thing ..

and with the settings i was shooting much much lower then that .. like 15ish .. because of the light .. i do have 2 more light bars i could toss on top of the tank and see if the boost in light will change things...

yeah 1/15 is pretty slow, i can never get good pics when shooting that slow unless youre shooting a pleco :D

try bumping up your ISO but as they say with photography, lighting is everything! oh and timing ;)

very nice shoots! already alot better then my little POS cam lol

need a better pic of the small female ray!! :D
