i just got my nano reef on tuesday! woo set it up everything great but i've been reading lots of sites and they all say different things to cycle. I really dont know what to do for the best i know i want it to be fishless but some say thats the best way.....and adding ammonia drops...live rock/sand...

so what if i just combine everything i've read and put in the tank...
live sand
live rock
ammonia drops
filter media from my other tank
raw shrimp
damsel?
and then have a wee in it

Your live rock and sand should be enough to start the cycle . Test ammonia and nitrite until both read zero then you can add your first fish . I wouldnt add a damsel unless you want one in the aquarium long term .

lol no....u get ammonia in wee wee right? lol i've been drinking lots of fruitjuice if that helps any?

*idea* i can patant my own wee in a bottle! yah woo ....... princess piss :D

not piss...might put people off.....or on :S

what i've got is live sand and some media from the other tank and its day 2 and the ammonia is now testing at 0.50 so thats good right? what should it go up to?

Hey Princess,
There is no set peak reading for ammonia. When it starts to fall, you will know the "spike" has been reached. Then you will start to get Nitrite readings, then after that, Nitrate readings. Now go and use that toilet!

just put live sand, and the live rock. and wait a week or so, than add fish :D

think i wanna wait more than a week it says it can take up to 2month but i'm in no hurry. :D the tank is cloudy at the moment from the live sand
