My name is Jonathan, AKA TheFishGuy/MonsterFishRescue, some of you may know that I'm on the board of the Ohio Cichlid Association. A topic was brought up at one of our board meetings... Were POSSIBLY thinking of having a hybrid class at the O.C.A. Extravaganza. I wanted yo get your thoughts on simply having a FH Class. I think a general hybrid class would leave too many variables. In the past we've not allowed hybrids and this might never materialize but I wanted to get the subject out there to see what you guys might think about it. We would not consider torture breeds though...

Here's a link to our website:

Please post your opinions.... I already know the "purists" opinion.... I thought I'd like to get some FH peoples opinions.

Would you attend the three day show?
Would you enter a FH in the show?
Who would you get to judge the FH portion of the show?

If I were close enough to Ohio to show fish I sure would. I would also attend. As for judging, there are some lists of disierable traits to look for in FHs, that could make almost anyone a potential judge in a pinch. Thanks for putting forth the effort to include FH into your show, they are truely a beautiful fish.
I am hoping the brain trust here on the boards steps up with some answers here for you.

What are the traits you speak of? I can only think of flower line and Kok size beyond the obvious over all health of the fish...

I do realize there's quite a few different Fh out there too. I had one I rescued a while back, she was a mean sucker! LOL Very pretty though!

i would say try push for it, so many beautiful flowerhorns out there!

Great way to welcome new participants, isn't it?

If you have questions let me know!

Sorry though this was the ACA convention, long drive for me since I am in Ca heh.

If you need help or have questions on judging I can put you in contact with an Indonesia FH judge so you have some standards to build off. Glad to see your club considering this!
