Oil slick ontop of tank ?

I have 3 500GPH circulation pumps, 1 AQ110, and an Fx5 return breaking the surface of the water in my 75 gallon... but about once every two months or so, I still have to soak up the excess protein film on the water surface. A constant amount of surface agitation can only disperse an ever increasing amount of "oil" for so long before it stops working entirely.
Yes it is definitely caused be minimal surface agitation. Woke up this morning to one of my filters clogged and it wasn't pumping. Sure enough I saw what you saw.
I might just get one of my old protine skimmers from my salt tank hooked up... Think that would help ? haha
